New Respiratory Illness affecting our dogs

There is a new respiratory illness that is spreading across the country. Making our dogs sick and killing them as well.

It is starting with a persistent cough, congestion, runny eyes, sneezing,& lethargy.

It is not clear what is causing the illness, thoughts are a new bacterium and it is hard to treat.

Until more information is gathered stay out of communal dog areas- dog parks, doggy day care and even be careful going to the vet.

If your dog shows symptoms. Please call your vet. Be aware of who your dog has been anround and possibly exposing to their illness.

In the meantime, be vigilant about who you take your dog around. Ask if they’ve been sick. I wait in my car until my vet appointment so I’m not in the waiting room with sick animals.

Take care and stay healthy😊

New Parvo treatment

Elanco, has a Parvovirus treatment!

Now, rather than treating symptoms and praying like mad that your puppy makes it there is an actual treatment. Hopefully will be approved in 2024 but it is available now.

I first saw Parvo as a child, I was about twelve - mid ‘70s. My dad bought an English Bulldog puppy. Fabulous puppy , all rolls and wrinkles. He got sick shortly after coming home. Despite everything my dad did he lost him. I have brought home multiple stray puppies as a teenager that ended up with Parvo and we lost.

I also had a litter more than a decade ago that luckily all recovered but it was the scariest three weeks of my life. Trained as a trauma RN I know got my puppies through as it was 24 hr care for nine puppies.

Talk to your vet if you suspect you or someone else has a sick puppy. This is available now.

Post Covid

Life is almost normal. Grands are back in school. Dogs are doing well. Time is marching on, so to speak.

We had a Norwich litter this summer, first in two years. We had a long spell without Wheatens as well. I’m happy to be back to s place where I’m not as concerned about interacting with others. Where I can see people’s faces again

So we have plans. Norwich plans. Wheaten plans. This fall, fingers crossed we’ll have puppies.

Please feel free to call. Have a list of questions ready. If you are here in the Houston area set up a time to come visit and meet the Wild Bunch.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hello

3/23/23

I am not much of a blogger!

It has been a long while since I have even looked here. We have Wheaten puppies ready to head home. they are wonderful but I always think my puppies are so sweet and beautiful so maybe I am a bit biased.

We have two Norwich bred, I am really excited about them. We have not had Norwich puppies in two years!! they are incredibly cute and fun.

that is it for today. It is a start right??

New Puppies

It is always a blessing to have a litter, to have mom and babies come through the delivery with no problems. We love to be able to sit and watch mom and babies thrive. Mom so thoughtful and loving, babies doing what they do best - eating, sleeping and pottying!

The latest litter was born on our anniversary . We woke up to mom's temperature being lower than normal and knew that  puppies were imminent. We were right! Eight puppies were born that day. All healthy and vigorous and mom had an easy delivery.

Puppies are growing fast! Mom is able to spend some time on her own and relax. We are able to relax as well and simply enjoy watching the process!
